Because every action counts! Organise and carry out actions on waste reduction, with the aim of informing and involving as many people as possible. EWWR actions take very different forms. Conferences, contests, information booths and exhibitions are just some examples.

Action developers must commit to a number of principles laid out in the Action Developers’ Participation Charter.

To become an action developer, simply register your action on the EWWR website.

If you would like to be part of the EWWR but don’t feel ready to organise your own action, we have you covered! Keep an eye on the map as many actions will appear while being registered.

Check the action(s) organised next to you and contact the action developer to ask if you could join. You will see that the majority of the actions will be registered in November, so do not lose your hope and always keep an eye on the map.

Are you thinking you would like to contribute even more to pass the messages of the EWWR? You may be eligible to join the fundamental bones of the EWWR: the national and regional coordinators.

Coordinators are public authorities that have competences in the field of waste management. They act as coordinators of the EWWR at the level of competence they represent in their country. As such, they are responsible for promoting the EWWR on their territory. Furthermore, they ensure the registration, validation and coordination of actions proposed by action developers in their territories.

Public authorities can also delegate these tasks to an associate organisation officially appointed to represent them. For countries, regions or areas that are not covered by a national, regional or local coordinator, the European Coordinator (ACR+) acts as coordinator.

Being a coordinator is fully free of charge and voluntary based. The EWWR does not provide financial support to coordinators to accomplish their activities.

• Your authority will become part of a wide network of public authorities proactively involved in the promotion of waste reduction.
• You will benefit from other European case studies, experiences and you will discover a database of best practices linked to the waste reduction.
• You will be invited to annual Coordinators meetings where you have the chance to meet other EWWR Coordinators from all over Europe, exchange best practices, thoughts and views. These meetings are usually combined with an international conference on waste and resource management and with the EWWR Awards Ceremony.
• You will be involved in a very successful European mobilisation on waste reduction.
• You will profit from a unique opportunity to involve stakeholders and citizens in your area on the topic of waste reduction and sustainable consumption.
• You will benefit from the media visibility (also online) resulting from the participation in such a big European project.
• You will receive tailored documents and factsheets.
• You will gain access to the official EWWR Communication material which includes posters, information material, social media kits, web banners, and more.
• You will join the constantly-growing EWWR digital community through the EWWR website, Facebook, and Instagram profile.
• As a EWWR Coordinator, you will have an asset and practical, tracked experience for the further development and implementation of national and regional waste prevention plans.
• You will always be able to count on the EWWR European Coordinator (ACR+) for suggestions, clarifications and technical help.

Each year 15 actions are selected as the most outstanding of the edition. The corresponding action developers are invited to join the annual EWWR Awards
Ceremony, where only 5 winners are revealed. Winners receive a trophy and enter in the list of Rewarded actions.

The annual EWWR Awards Ceremony is organised to reward the most outstanding actions carried out during each edition of the EWWR. Every year, coordinators, action developers, and those interested in the EWWR are invited to gather for one day to celebrate the EWWR and its participants.

The event is organised in June, in Brussels (Belgium), and it’s free of charge.

The Awards Ceremony is an amazing opportunity to put the spotlight on some of the most committed EWWR action developers.

Some budget is reserved to cover the participation of the finalists at the event.

#1 Register your best action.
Register an original, creative, long-lasting and innovative action via the EWWR website (or in one of the external platforms managed by coordinators).

#2 Apply to be compete for the Award.
While registering, select YES in the question “Would you like to enter your EWWR action to compete for the EWWR awards?”. This will allow national and regional coordinators to identify your action.

#3 Selected actions complete the evaluation form.
From December, regional and national coordinators will select 5 to 10 best actions to nominate for the European EWWR Awards. If selected, you will be asked to fill a form to provide all the information about the qualities and the impact of the action(s) you organise.

#4 The European Jury selects 15 finalists.
After a pre-selection made by the European coordinator, 50 nominated actions are shared with an European Jury, composed of professionals working in the environmental sector who are recognised at the European level. They are in charge of examining the shortlisted actions and of designating 3 finalists, among which a winner, in each of the 5 EWWR categories (Public Administration and organisation; Association/NGO and body/organisation of public interest; Business/Industry; Educational establishment; Citizen(s). The evaluation is based on the following criteria:

• Visibility and communication aspects;
• Quality of content;
• Originality and exemplarity;
• Lasting impact & follow-up.

#5 Finalists get ready for the Awards Ceremony.
In April, the 15 finalists are revealed and invited to the EWWR Awards Ceremony. If you are among them, you will be contacted by the European Coordinator to prepare your participation in the event.

#6 Winners receive a trophy.
If your action is the winner, you will discover this at the Ceremony in June. Winners receive a trophy and enter the list of Rewarded actions.
